Mystery Pelt - Help with ID

Anyone have an idea what this pelt is? The fur is extremely dense. Three times as thick as the rabbit furs I have. It's a deep brown color on top, but a grey/white underneath. It's also the softest thickest fur I've ever felt. The tan is OLD, it tears very easily. Please ignore my horrible nail polish. Any ideas?
