Ram lamb born without bottom jaw - Agnathia

Description

Posting reference pictures for a lamb that was born earlier this week with no bottom jaw, a rare deformity called agnathia. This lamb is a dorset/suffolk cross and is one of a set of twins. The other twin (a ewe lamb) is surprisingly healthy and undeformed. Sadly, this little male was full term but could not survive outside the womb and was found deceased. As you can see from the pictures he is completely missing his bottoms jaw and tongue. He also has a large mass in his throat. I am attempting to clean his skull and to preserve his little spotty legs but they might not keep because of the condition he came to me in.

This animal was not killed by me or for me. He died of natural causes and it is impossible for a sheep to survive with such a huge deformity. I put a content warning on here because it is sad to see baby animals that have passed. Please know that his body is being treated with the utmost respect. His image is being used for scientific reference.
